From Milagro Allegro:
“Have you attended one of the many free/low-cost classes or workshops that we’ve offered since opening in May 2009? Do you enjoy good food and good company? Milagro Allegro would like to invite you to a very special fund raiser dinner for our garden this coming Monday evening, March 14th at Canele restaurant in Atwater. Please consider giving back to Milagro by enjoying delicious food to benefit our garden during the upcoming Closed on Mondays dinner! What could be better than good food for a good cause?
The 3-course fixed price menu for Monday’s market driven, Mexican-inspired meal will include a salad of market lettuces, avocado, radishes and queso fresco dressed with lime, jalepeno and crema. The main course will be your choice of Yucatan pork (citrus and achiote marinated pork shoulder roasted in banana leaves) or chicken in East Side mole, both served with homemade tortillas which will be made-to-order throughout the night. Vegetarian options will be available as well. Dessert will be your choice of tres leches cake or dulce de leche ice cream with mexican hot chocolate. Special add-ons include a dish of red rice, yellow beans and tomatillo braised greens (vegan), as well as a honeyed hibiscus drink. (Is your mouth watering yet???)
Cost for dinner is $35 (cash only; this does not include alcohol, add-ons or tips)
Time: 5:30-9:30 pm
First come first served, no reservations taken
Free raffle for a basket of vegetables grown at Milagro Allegro!
Canele a gem of a restaurant located at 3219 Glendale Blvd. in the Atwater neighborhood just a few miles from Milagro Allegro. Closed on Mondays is the brainchild of Aliza Miner, Savita Ostendorf and Marjory Garrison developed as a recurring dinner designed to support local food initiatives.
It would be an honor if you would forward this invitation to five friends so we have a GREAT turnout!”
