The annual fundraiser for Lummis Day will take place Saturday, May 3
Great food, unique entertainment, soft drinks, wine and beer are all included with admission. Plus, a silent auction will offer the chance to bid on art, books, vintage wines and rare collectibles at bargain prices. Singers from critically-acclaimed Pacific Opera Project will be performing selected arias at the event. The company, which recently staged “Carmen” and will be staging Cavalli’s “La Calisto” beginning May 1 at the Highland Park Ebell Theater, has been praised for creating “accessible opera…with a high level of performing skill.” The first “Noisemaker Award,” named for the famous entertainments hosted by Charles Lummis for writers, artists and dignitaries at his Northeast L.A. home, will be presented to longtime community activist and founding Lummis Day board member Ann Walnum.
Saturday, May 3rd
Highland Park American Legion Hall, 227 South Ave 55.
Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door. They can be purchased at Antigua Coffee House, Galco’s Old World Grocery or on the Lummis Day website.
All proceeds from the event support the Lummis Day Festival, the only arts festival that represents all of Northeast L.A. This year’s Lummis Day Festival, the ninth annual event, will take place on June 1. As always, admission to all festival events will be free of charge.
