Celebrate Earth Day: Butterfly Gardens

Celebrate spring & Earth Day in your garden by planting butterfly friendly plants.  Monarchs love milkweed and Swallowtails go crazy for parsley (you and the butterfly benefits from that one).  Plus it makes a really cool science experiment for kids to see caterpillars go through their cycle.  Watch for tiny eggs on the under side of your parsley or milkweed leaves.  Pick just a couple of leaves, place in a clear clean container and watch nature in action.  In a few short weeks the tiny egg will produce a caterpillar that grows from a speck to a huge munching machine, then cocoons to release a beautiful butterfly.  Here’s a great website to help get you started: Livemonarch.com
