Frogtown Artwalk
8th Annual Artwalk: September 28nd 2013
4-10 pm plus after hours events
The artists, artisans, and architects of Elysian Valley, otherwise known as Frogtown, are pleased to announce the eighth annual Frogtown Artwalk, a celebration of the creativity and talent flourishing in the industrial buildings of this working class neighborhood along the LA River. During last year’s event, thousand of visitors and locals alike strolled the newly paved river bike/walking path from studio to studio, and many were treated to fleeting sights of La Llorona as she came out from the river to dance between the buildings.
This year, the Artwalk will feature a “river pavilion” with information on on-going river restoration efforts and live music. A youth art show will offer interpretations on the theme of “River Ecology”. Artist Leo Limon, creator of the “storm drain cats”, will share his knowledge of the neighborhood. A series of movie projections onto the trees in the riverbed will guide visitors from studio to studio.
Frogtown is easy to reach, and there is plenty of free parking. Official map to come showing the locations of artists’ studios and PODs, food trucks, and toilets.
