Are you prepared? Do you know what to do before, during, and after a disaster or emergency situation?
The Historic Highland Park Neighborhood Council is offering free Community Emergency Response Team CERT training. CERT is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens may initially be on their own and their actions can make a difference.
In this 7-week CERT training course, citizens learn:
-Earthquake preparedness
-To manage utilities and put out small fires
-Light medical and triage: opening airways, controlling bleeding, treating for shock, and providing basic medical aid
-Light search and rescue for victims
-Organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective, and collect disaster intelligence to support first responder efforts
-CERT’s role in terrorist events and homeland defense
