Explore culture and art in Highland Park. The tour begins at the Highland Park stop along the Metro Gold Line, and includes a visit to our Folk Art Everywhere partner, Figueroa Produce. We’ll learn about hidden gems from historic signage and architecture, to unique public spaces and independent businesses, and conclude with a picnic at La Tierra de la Culebra Park. The tour will loosely follow the historic Route 66 and the Arroyo, and there will be multiple opportunities for food and drink along the way.
In keeping with our city’s tradition of breaking the rules, the Craft and Folk Art Museum (CAFAM) is launching Folk Art Everywhere. Think of it as a cultural treasure hunt that places beautiful and curious art objects from museums and collections in unexpected spaces—markets, theaters, coffee shops, bookstores, and the like—places where people naturally gather.
Folk Art Everywhere is a new project from the cool folks at CAFAM, whose mission is to champion cultural understanding by encouraging curiosity about our diverse world through the universal lens of art.
