Passing this along form the folks at the Audubon Center at Debs Park.
Last week, the Audubon Center at Debs Park became aware of an owl nest, with young owls, in a pine tree at the edge of Montecito Park. While there were two owls on Friday there was only one on Monday. Today, we have credible evidence that someone may be attempting to remove the remaining owl from the area where it has fledged. Please be vigilant when approaching the Audubon Center along Griffin, coming from Avenue 43 – as you pass Montecito Dr., or coming from our driveway – just before you get to the intersection with Montecito Dr.. It is illegal to harass, harm, or keep these animals and we are keeping a close eye on the situation. If you see anything that does not look right, please contact Los Angeles Animal Services: (888) 452-7381 or the Office of Public Safety: (213) 978-4670. You can also call us at the Center: (323) 221-2255.
