Another Local Find with a Green Spirit ?

Good Girl Dinette      110 N Ave 56, Highland Park

Want to enjoy dinner in more ways than one?  Good Girl Dinette is the perfect place.  Billed as American diner meets Vietnamese comfort food, the Good Girl blends a local, seasonal and sustainable eatery with terrific, satisfying fare and very accessible prices all set in a clean lined friendly dining room.

From big steaming bowls of Grandma´s pho to slow roasted baguette sandwiches and, my favorite, chicken pot pie with a rich curry it is easy to enjoy a great dinner or weekend lunch knowing that most ingredients have not traveled thousands of carbon spewing miles to get to your plate.

Here's a Green Tip that's also a local find -

Antigua Organic Tea and Coffee

"Locally roasted" coffee usually means somewhere within hundreds of miles, maybe thousands.  For the family behind Antigua it means Lincoln Heights.  And they are roasting organic beans from a Guatemalan farm in the family since 1865.

This friendly sunny cafe starts with rich coffee -
deeply flavored and aromatic, fine straight up or in a smooth latte.
Comfortable couches and free wifi, great sandwiches and treats plus cool music.

Antigua owner Yancy has helped bring the same great vibe and coffee to
El Sereno at Xokolatl Cafe.

unique commitment to a local charter school.
